Materials Planning & Procurement

FGS can plan & procure spare parts on behalf of a customer. The customer supplies Bill of Materials (BOM) and part number information and FGS forecasts and runs MRP (Materials Requirement Planning) for PO (Purchase Order) production.

The forecast will typically include:

• Historic demand / installed base (where available)


• Defective planning (unused / NTF / replace / repair / credit)


• Service level required  / ABC classification / alts & subs


• End of Service Life (EOSL) / life cycles / leading indicators

FGS manages the PO process with inputs such as:

• Lead time / required delivery date


• Minimum or economic order quantity

POs are managed through FSP (Flextronics Supplier Portal). FSP is an industry leading supply chain collaboration solution developed by Flextronics. FSP features automatic forecast visibility and forecast commit, PO and rescheduling message communication with our supply base. This web-based solution is integrated with our site ERP systems and allows automatic transmission of data between vendors and FGS without the requirement for costly EDI integrations. FSP allows buyers to manage the order book in a well organised manner by exception handling rather than the endless efforts of data entry in ERP systems.

Vendors are managed by FGS to terms and conditions agreed upon by the customer and their suppliers. FGS measures vendor performance through agreed metrics and continually performs commodity price benchmarking on behalf of our customers.
